My friend's just got a baby boy - is completely natural. It has the equivalent meaning as "he just became the father of a baby boy. Grammatically, " just had" present a tense conflict which infers the past in my opinion. If someone said "I just had my root channel done and I can't eat anything too hot or cold for a while". This is fine because the procedure was completed. So "he just h
