How to teach writing

Hi all,Does anyone specialise in teaching writing, either to native speakers or L2/ESL?Has anyone used any of the software in this writing lab's list?https://owl.purdue.edu/writinglab/students/in_lab_esl_software.html I am looking for suggestions and tips. Maybe there is a good online course?

Many years ago, I used the https://www.newreaderspress.com/laubach-way-to-reading-level-1. It is a basic literacy program. It teaches reading and writing together.

It looks like it hasn't changed.

Speaking from experience, learning another language is a very frustrating, delicate yet rewarding process. From learning the grammar fundamentals, developing a vocabulary and using it effectively took many years of hard work and devotion. With that said, many serious learners are able to communicate and get the point across within a few years, but not without problem. It will take another 3-5 years to polish the rough edges (on pronunciation, clarity and confidence). For writing, however, the improvement process will even take longer. It will require perseverance and relentless effort to keep pushing forward, reading, listening, and practicing continuously before one can see the natural result. For me, English was a huge monster at the beginning that I thought was impossible to conquer, but as went on, I later found it interesting and the more I learned the more I became obsessed with it. So someone told me to try thinking in English. So I took his words. EverydayI practiced 2-3 hours. Like magic, my brain really began to think in English. Once I have that ability, English was no longer that monster, it's a friend.

That was 30 years ago. I can say this, even with the best writing software, a learner can not write effectively without a solid grammar foundation, a well-developed vocabulary, and the strong skills to construct clear sentences. Natural English patterns can be developed by listening to how the natives phrase certain word and the environment in which they use it in.
