How to synchronize different tenses?

Hi everybody,

Could you tell me basic rules about this? For example I mixed tenses in one of my previous posts, but I really don't know whether it was good or not. It just sounded good. I mix them loosely because I don't know the strict rules. I give an example for it:

"Now I thought it over and it really makes sense." -> For example here, I used simple past and simple present but it was just intuitive. It sounded good because it looked so the two sentences differ from each other.

It is hard to express what I would like to know, but I count on your emphatic ability (Does the word 'empathic' exist?).

Thanks for your help in advance

" -> For example here, I used simple past and simple present but it was just intuitive. It sounded good because it looked as though the two sentences differ ed from each other. " Your sentence consisted of two main clauses.

  • " -> For example here, I used simple past and simple present but it was just intuitive.

  • " Your sentence consisted of two main clauses.
  • If you have a sentence with a dependent clause and a main clause, there are some general rules.
  • ) Both words exist, but I think you meant to write empathic.

There are no strict rules. Just guidelines.

Try to stay within tenses that have the same point of view (POV).

Present POV: Present, Present perfect, Future of the present (will), can, may, might, must, should ...
Past POV: Past, Past perfect, Future of the pas

Thank you very much. Yes, I meant to write 'empathic' (I don't know how I was able to make a mistake in this). I will read the text in the resource.

Thank you very much, I will consider it (if I don't forget it).
