how to state possession by yourself and someone else

How do you state ownership by someone else and yourself? Is there a less formal way than, for example, "The car that is owned by John and I has broken down." I'd like to say "John's and mine's" car has broken down but that sounds weird. But you could say "John and Kate's car has broken down." So is their no way to replace Kate with yourself without really altering the construction of the sentence?

Hi,

I realize that you want to look at this sentence in isolation.

But in many common contexts, we often say 'Our car broke down'.
