Letter Writing

How to start a letter asking for information?

0 Hi everybody !!! 02br
02br
00I am struggling with a letter I want to write to the Law Society. I need some information about the legal sector in England and I don't know how to start my letter. 02br
00Would it be correct to write : 02br
02br
00" Dear Sir or Madam, 02br
02br
00I am writing to enquire about information concerning the legal sector in England." 02br
02br
00Another sentence I'm not sure about in my letter is the following : "Could you please tell me if my French diploma is recognised in England and if not, if there is a way to have it so ?" 02br
00Is the expression "to have it so" which avoids me to repeat "recognised" correct? 02br
02br
00And a last question, is it possible to end such a letter by writing : "Thanking you in advance?" 02br
02br
00I hope that you will be able to help me. 02br
02br
00Thanks a lot 0-

-;- Thanking you in advance-A phrase generally used at the end of letters in which a favor is asked. It borders closely on discourtesy, because the writer assumes that the reader will do as requested, and having done so there will be no thanks forthcoming. The thing to do is to express "appreciation" in advance, and thank after the favor has been granted.
