Either "two thousand" or "the year two thousand". Same with 2008.

Rafijiangone more query, it is right or not if we pronounce 2008 as "two thousand eight"? Or we should say two thousand and eight

Usually, AE speakers use the one without "and".

I think it's up to the speaker. I've heard it without the "and" more often, but certainly enough times with the "and" that it wouldn't make me take notice of something unusual. I've also heard "twenty-oh-eight." That one still does strike me as unusual, but not wrong.

As a matter of style, I can't think of why you would ever want to write out the year in words. Just write 2008.

0You write out the year for formal announcements (graduations and weddings, etc.) My high schoolers' math book teaches you never put "and" between numbers. You would never say (or write) "The year we got married was 19 hundred "and" 88 (1988), so why would you say (or write) two thousand "and" eight. It's just two thousand eight. Simple.0-
