How to spell out year/date?
For example, 1986.
Do I write it as 'nineteen eighty-six'? Is this right?
But what of 2016? would it be 'twenty sixteen' or 'two thousand and sixteen'?

AnonymousBut what of 2016? would it be 'twenty sixteen' or 'two thousand and sixteen'?You may do either (and also omit 'and'). It is not a common way to treat dates, Linda, so spell them out sparingly.
