How to soften the T sound in the American way

Gosh, people repeatedly repond me back with "what?" when I pronounce the following words. I just wanna speak English in a casual way. But I guess they think I am oddly pretending like one of them. Gosh its stressful.

T-sound

Important - im-porn-t(?)

Twenty - Th-wenny(?)

Italy - a(?)lly

Variety - vuh-rye-uh-dih(?)

Fettered - Feh-rer-dh(?)

I stated - sh-tei-rid(?) something.

R-sound

order - oh-rer(?) gosh how do you pronounce double Rs?

Lastly I have trouble whenever I initiate a sentence by "is there ~"

can I skip "th" sound and just say "is dere"?

I think when you say "softening" you are talking about pronouncing a t like a d. It's about as simple as that. It happens at the end of a stressed syllable.

Italy ~ Idaly
variety ~ variedy
fettered ~ fedderd
stated ~ staded

The t is sometimes omitted between n and a vowel:

plenty ~ plenny
twenty ~ twenny
county ~ counn
