How to say you're writing a letter for someone else

When you are writing a letter for someone else, how do you indicate that? Thanks!

Top answer

I would start the letter by stating that you are writing oh behalf of someone/somebody else. Dear Mr Smith, I'm writing on behalf of my Senior Manager, Mr. J Bloggs, regarding the results of the meeting last Friday.

This response is way too late, but for those who care....

Follow this link, and at the bottom of the page it will tell you what you need to write. Essentially it is the initials of the writer following the signature.

Hope this helps someone!

I noticed a "bap/ct on the bottom of a letter sent to me. I am assuming "ct" is the initials of the person who typed the letter, but what does the bap stand for?

Thanks

Notice the initals RRS is for the signer and jwc in lower case is the preparer. Not much to it.
