How to say this in english "slow to get heated"

Hi,

There is a saying in Chinese, something like "slow to be heated", it can describe a person's character, which means, just like, we know the difference of metal and water, even though water get heated much slower than a metal, but it always has the ability to keep warm much longer. So in Chinese, I would say to my friend during a self-introduction that: "I am a slow-to-get-heated" person.

I guess I cannot say that I have a high "specific heat capacity", lol

Many many thanks

I think that I understand the context of your question, and I have a response. But, first I'd like to point out that trying to rephrase idiomatic expressions from another language is a very difficult task. I rarely get them correct.

What do you think of "I'm slow to warm up to people" as part of your "self-introduction?"

"Slow to warm" is common in describing one's emotional response.

Thank you guys, I know it is difficult Emotion: smile

I feel the solution given by both of you, do not have an implication, nor did it em

Is this better?
I'm slow to warm up to someone, but once I am your friend, I am a friend forever.

How about this:

I have a cool head and a warm heart.

As an aside, I originally rejected your physics example, but I now have to admit you're right:
The specific heat of water is four times that of aluminum!

"Cool head and warm heart", I love this one.
Thank you all guys.
