How to say it like a native speaker x9: by the way or in the process?
Dear All,
Could you please have a look at the following sentence?
(about a Halloween party) Kathy, I hope you had a good time and learnt some new English words by the way.
Is it correct to use by the way in such a way? The thing that I'd like to express is the hope that by taking part in the party the person could also learn a few English words or had a chance to chat with English speakers.
Thank you
Cheers

I would say along the way, meaning at the same time. By the way is generally used to add something new to a topic. I'm dating a new girl now. By the way, she's your cousin.
