How to say it correctly in English? no. x1

Hello again,

Another conversation that I'd like to ask about. This time I'd like to ask about the underlined part only. I'm sure it's not natural...

A: As far as I know Diego Maradona is the head coach of Argentina national team.
B: Oh really, is he??? I don't think so...
A: I guess he is. How do you think I found out about him? I didn't know him before.

Thanks

CliveI don't understand what A is trying to say in his last two sentences. Instead of me guessing, can you try to say it another way, please?
What the person was trying to say was that she didn't know who Diego Maradona was. Once she heard the team had a new coach she started reading about Maradona.

A: He is. I didn't know who he was before, but once I heard the team had a new head coach I read up about him.
