I have chosen a motorcycle mechanic and a SWAT team member for our career project paper. To become a motorcycle mechanic you need to know how to dismantle engines and repair or replace defective parts. Remove cylinder heads, grind valves, scrape off carbon build up and replace defective valve, pistons, cylinders and rings, using hand and power tools. Be able to hammer out dents and bends in frames, weld tears and breaks; then reassemble frames and reinstall engines. Replace or repair headlights, horns, handlebar controls, gasoline and oil tanks, starters and mufflers. Replace, repair, or adjust motorcycle subassemblies such as forks, transmissions, brakes, and drive chains according to specifications. You should be able to use hand tools, arbor presses, flexible power presses or power tools, reassemble and test subassembly units. Have to listen to engines and diagnose the problem(s), examine frames, and confer with customers in order to determine nature and extent of malfunction or damage. You also should know how to connect test panels to engines and measure generator output ignition, and other engine performance indicators. To become a motorcycle mechanic you must first know these things, have a high school diploma, and technical college.
