How to reply "thank you" in the following situation?

If someone asked me, at the information desk, a question and I could not give a trouble-shooting answer which I was supposed to provide, then what's the polite way to reply his " Thank you"? (He was not irritating, disappointed though; he was quite nice. )
I appreciated any help you provide. Emotion: smile
