How to reference changing honorifics and professional titles

In a short bio or personal summary, how should one refer to a person's previous titles?

E.g., suppose Mr. Smith wrote "Dogs Playing Checkers," then subsequently earned his Ph.D., taught at university, became a judge, and finally sat on the court. Is the following bio correct or should he be referred to as the Honorable Dr. Smith throughout?

1994 - Editor at Brooke's Books, New York, New York
Mr. Smith wrote the bestselling "Dogs Playing Checkers."
2001 - Partner at Dewy, Cheetum, and Howe, Madison, Wisconson
Dr. Smith rose to partner
2009 - 5th Circuit Court, Albany, NY
The Honorable Dr. Smith wrote several controversial opinions

Any ideas?

Most bios contain at least a short biographical passage at the first before a listing of accomplishments. In that, you would include something such as: John Smith was the first of six children born in Brooklyn, NY to John M. and Rosie Smith.
