How to refer to an undergraduate college in supporting statement?

Hi everyone,

I am writing a supporting statement for a postgraduate college in UK, and I am wondering:

What is the most appropriate way to refer to my undergraduate college in the supporting statement?

Should I refer to it by:

- "My college", or

- "My undergraduate college", or

- its name, or

- ???

Kindly give an example.

Thanks,

Hello, mjordan—and welcome to English Forums.

Your concern is unclear. Are you speaking of a 4-year program? Is it a college or a university (i.e. what is its name)? Without any other precautionary reasons, I would refer to it by name.

Thanks for the fast reply and sorry for the ambiguity.

The sentence is:

It all started when "my college/university" had installed a new access control system...

Thanks

Yes, then—that is fine as you have it, but I think past perfect is inappropriate there. Simple 'installed' shoulld be correct.
