How to read date?

Hi all,

I've already known how to write the data, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th-20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th-30th and 31st.
But how about in speaking?
For example 6-2 (June the second, whether "the" is needed here?); 6-9(June the ninth); 6-18(June the eighteenth)

Thanks!
