How to read "400s" and "2000s" ?

Hello there,

How do we read these dates?

Between 400s and 1500s... Do we read it as fourhundreds?

How do we read 2000s?

Thanks

Four hundreds, fifteen hundreds. We're not too far into the new millennium, but I think that so far we are using 'two thousands'.

Thanks Philip,

How about 1200s? Can we read it as one thousand two hundreds?

Philip, allow me please to ask one more question here. How do we read...

The economy of western Europe, devastated since the fall of Rome, began to improve around 1000.

I would say the year one thousand. There are probably other viable expressions.

I would write and read these as between the 5th and 16th centuries.

How do we read 2000s? Again, I would use the 21st century.
