How to punctuate this sentence

In the following four boxes, although the number eight or nine appears at the bottom, no rule is broken because both numbers appear together.

Please can you tell me if I have punctuated this sentence correctly. Should I remove the comma before ' although' because it sounds as if the words between the commas aren't important but they are necessary for the correct meaning.
