Hi! I am loosely adapting a quote in a marketing piece. The quote is one sentence with 13 words, and I changed 5 of them. I did not use quotation marks around the quote, but I put an asterisk at the end of the sentence and a note at the bottom of the piece that reads, "Adapted from a John Muir quote." Is this OK from an academic stance? Thanks!
Hello Bling Queen, Its important to write exact words of quotation if you are mentioning the name of the writer, while if you want to write in your own words you may write as eg * as the famouse saying goes " QUOTATION". basically its suggestive for easy writing, as you ask from academic point of view. Hoping you would find it helpful somehow.
