How to pronounce the number "three"

Hi.

I think you have to pronounce the "th" in the number "three" by putting the tip of the tongue between the teeth (both upper and lower teeth) and blowing out softly like what one usually do when pronouncing the word "this"? Is that correct? Sometimes people look at me quizzly if I say the number "three" like that.

The "th" sound in three is different from the "th" sound in "this". The th in three is unvoiced, and the th in this is voiced. Otherwise, the tongue position is the same, just like you have described.
