How to pronounce "natura"? (not the Latin word!)

Hi all,

I need to know how an English speaker would pronounce the word natura in a non-Latin context, as in "Natura 2000 network," "Natura 2000 sites," "Natura 2000 legislation" and so on.

My usual sources (http://dictionary.cambridge.org/results.asp?searchword=natura&x=0&y=0, http://www.ldoceonline.com/spellcheck/?q=natura, ) don't list it; http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/natura does have an entry, but it's about a Latin saying and they try to approximate the Latin pronounciation
(I can do that very well, LOL).

I appreciate it's not really an English word, but in the European Union that's the proper English name of a network of protected areas.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thank you very much. Emotion: smile

I would pronounce "natura" in the same way as I would "natural" just drop the "l" sound from the end of the word.

Hi,

Thanks for aswering. I have tried to follow your suggestion, but it seems I always end up saying "nature" instead.

Here's how I pronounce it.

nuh - TOOR - uh

The accented syllable rhymes with poor. uh represents a schwa.
