HOW TO PRONOUNCE "IS THAT"?

When "is" + "that", say "is that him?", I find it is really difficult to pronounce them in a smooth way, because "is" requires my teeth nearly closed and "that" requires my tongue to be put between my teeth, doesn't it? I find it is really hard to change my mouth shape that quickly.

And when I came across them in the radio, I felt like it's pronounced like "izat", is this the right thing I've heard or I just misunderstood?

Is it an easy way to pronounce them for your native English speaker? Or they are just what they are, just change the mouth shape so quickly?

By the way, I also find it is confused to say "with that". Do I need to pronounce the both "th" or just the first "th" in "with" or the other one?

Need help! Pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase!

In verbal communication, all that matters is that the person you are talking to understands what you are saying. To a friend I've known since we were boys, I'd say quickly sthat 'im? To a stranger, whose first language might not be English, I would clearly and slowly enunciate the words is that him?

  • Saying 'with that' needs no break between the words, but the two th s are merged into a very slightly longer th sound.
