how to pronounce "in it" in rapid speech?

How to pronounce "in it" in rapid speech? my teacher tell me it's like "in nit", but I think there is an extra “n" sound in this way? I think it should be "i nit". How does native english speaker produce this in practise?

If it's the latter, it's primarily British English. North Americans don't use this tag.

The double-n (nn) may be there just to indicate that a "short I" is needed, not the "long I" of "ice".

There is actually only one "n" in the pronunciation.

The same is true of other double-n's. winner, banner, kennel, ... All these have only one 'n' sound.
