How to Pronounce Fremont?

Hello,

I've been wondering how to pronounce Fremont. It IS an English name right? By English does it mean some sort of British name or something? What is the origin of this name? I am wondering how to pronounce this? I recently researched my name. They just call me Freddie but I'd like to know the right way... Free-mont?? Freh-mont???

It's usually a surname (family name) rather than a first name - but there has been a fashion recently for using surnames as given names. Try researching Fremont as a surname/family name to find its origins. The most famous Fremont (I think) was an American explorer in the 19th century, a Charles Fremont.

  • There are American towns named after him.
  • I think you might find it is more common as a name in America than Britain, as googling 'fremont' only comes up with references to various American towns/businesses/Charles Fremont on the first few pages.
