Rosemary34 difference in pro nun ciation It appears to me that the two dictionaries use different phonetic alphabets, but those codings indicate the same (American) pronunciation. CJ

Yes, of course 'Pronunciation'. Sorry.

But in the word 'diterrent' Oxford advanced learner's dictionary indicates this sound '?' after the 't' while the second dictionary indicates this sound '?' instead of '?' 'after the 't' and uses the same coding ( '?' ) before the 'r'. Is Oxford dictionary more exact?
