How to pronounce "before" and "behind"?

As per the dictionary, "before" is pronounced as /b-fôr/ and "behind" is pronounced as /b-hnd/ (in AmE and BrE). But couple of times, I've heard my European friends say "ba-fore" and "ba-hind". And as a matter of fact, I've started speaking like them. Which one is the right way? "be-" or "ba-"

"be-" You can even slow down a little and use "bee" as in the word "bee".
