How to parse and understand of "who've" in a sentence?

Dear all,

I'm stuck at the grammar of the sentence below to understand.

"But in this programme we hear from companies who’ve got rid of managers and say it has helped them do a better job, made them happier and saved money."

Q1)Especially, I'm wondering that the reason of using "who've" as grammar. because I think that 'who' is relative clauses and who is used for person not things. In this case, companies are trying to get rid of managers. so "who" has to be which or that or something like that.

Q2)one thing more I can't understand it about 've with who. I think who've(=who have). If I right, How do I understand the grammar of this structure to understand ?
