How to parahprase the following sentence?

Dear All,

Could I ask you to help me parahprase my own sentence? I mean, the sentence that is in bold. If someone would care to tell me if the other parts are correct, I'd be much obliged but the prime focus lies here in the last sentence.

She does, however, have a tendency to remain a bit quiet during in-class discussions and seems to prefer to listen to others' opinions and comments unless directly addressed by the teacher. It is clear nonetheless that once spoken to, she has more than one-word answers ready.
