how to master English.

Hi, my English is good but I am trying to make it better. I want to know how I can master English language by reading English books. I have tried to read and then pencil down some bombastic words that I found and tried to remember it. But I found out that it was useless. Am I right? Can anyone please suggest me ways to master English language by reading? I really need your help. Thank you.

Translate an English text into your native tongue. Next reverse it, i.e. translate from your native tongue into English. After that compare your English translation with the original English text. Note the differences, mistakes or straightforward blunders. Try it again till your text
