I wish I had a smart pill for you to swallow but there is no such thing. Everyone learns vocabulary differently. Today, there is a lot of tools on the internet you can use, i.e. Youtube which is proven very effective because each video has a given context and the CC caption narration can be enabled so that the dialog is simultaneously displayed on the screen. You can stop at any point to find the meaning of any new word you may come across. There is a side benefit which is showing you how the words are used. In the old days, people had to read newspapers for the same purpose. Now anyone can learn from the smartphone.

If you're good at brute force memorizing, get yourself a couple hundred blank vocabulary cards. They're only about an inch by three inches in size. For each card put an English word on one side and its meaning in your native language on the other side.

Go through them as often as you can, up to fifty times a day.

You should be able to learn about 300 words a week if you're good at memorizing.

Once you get up to 1000 words add two- and three-word phrases, or even whole sentences that might be useful.

In between, read as much as possible in English. Try to read aloud to yourself as well. Even if you don't understand everything you read, just keep reading.

Listen to English-language broadcasts as much as possible as well. Again, do this even if you don't understand everything you hear.

Understanding a foreign language tends to sneak up on you while you're not really trying.

The smart pill was a metaphor. My suggestion is the only natural way to learn how English speakers (natural or assimulated) use the words in a certain context. If I asked you " Did you enjoy your vacation in Shanghai?", You can reply " I had a fabulous time", or " I had a very wonderful / exciting time" For most people, it would be fine because all 3 expressed positive the connotation. But in reality, each word has a slightly different meaning. Though for the vacation context, it requires no further consideration. In more complex context, precise words are required.
