We often hear people say that learning a foreign language well is very difficult. They spend a lot of time on it, but they couldn’t learn it well.

I think if you want to learn a foreign language well, the following things are very necessary. Firstly, you should be able to understand the language when your hear it spoken. Then you should speak it correctly. Of course it’s also important to be able to read the lanuage. Also you should be able to write it correctly.

There aren’t any easy ways to succeed in learning a foreign lanuage. It’s true that you should learn new words, expressions and grammar by heart. But that is not enough. You should learn to use them. “Learn through use” is a good piece of advice for those who are learning a new foreign lanugae. We all know that “practice makes perfect”. It’s really true. You should practise speaking and writing the language whenever you can.

So, what you're saying is that to learn a language you should be able to understand it, speak it correctly, to read it and write it? You should learn things off by heart and also use them?

I think if you could do all those things, you wouldn't worry about learning the language.
