how to interpret this

A: “ How’s the tuition work?”

B: “ The tuition work has not been doing good.”

A: “ Pray tell me, what is that that has been going good, if not the tuition.”

May I know if the above conversations sounds normal and friendly or provoking to you?

Does the last sentence mean : pls tell me, if you can't perform well in tuition, what else do you think you can do it good

Thanks a million.
