How to inform a prof. from being away?

Hi everybody,

I think that my last post is waiting for moderator's approval since I sent it as a anonymous. now I create my account and I'm so happy that I could find a friendly place to ask my questions.

This is my first post, forgive me if there is any mistake.

I'm a Bsc student and I'm working on a project with a PHD student in my faculty. That's nearly for a year that I was far from my family and I'd like to meet them now. I don't want to tell him about the reason, I just want to assure him that I'll follow my work up. I'm going to try this in one of my replies to him. Is it ok and polite?any better idea?

I will be away for a month or more. It may cause delay in my replies but surely I'll follow my work up.
