Essay & Composition Writing

How to improve writing skills ?

I am not quite sure if i am at right place to ask this but i hope someone will help me out. The problem i am facing with my english is that i am having very hard time expressing myself especially when i am writing. I have never taken any english class whatsoever, i had chance to learn it in english spoken countries, did little practise and i have had huge interest improving my english. Now that i understan %80 percent of any tv show, newspaper or so, i still struggle finding the right words to set up a meaning in a way that sounds advanced. When i write i feel like i stuck with the certain patterns and simple sentence structures, anybody can that much good. It dosent seem it is written by someone who has been speaking for years now. What should i do ? reading, writing, grammar?
