how to give an insight

what does morality mean, if i am asked to give an "insight/morality" of a story. is it the moral value? like: killing is a crime, no matter how good your intention is. the story(rashomon) is about something immoral done by someone, should the "morality" be in a positive form like: Necessity is not an excuse in being immoral or can it be in something negative like: People tend to do the same actions done by someone to others, to that someone... heh...
