Is my sentence is correct?

They explained this to me in detail how to get there but when I asked for a map they clearly refused to give it to me.

Mirch Masala They explained this to me in detail how to get there , but when I asked for a map they clearly refused to give it to me. If you want to emphasize their refusal, you can use adverbs like 'absolutely' or 'adamantly'. Those are not the only possible choices.
