How to get some cohesion into my lessons

Hi all, basically most of my lessons consist of studying vocabulary and then using it in various activities. I would like to do lots of other fun activities such as using authentic materials from youtube, or the balloon debate but i just can't see where I can fit it into the lesson so it is relevant with the language points. Should lessons be a random series of activities or what?
