How to explain some words

0 I am a young teacher. I asked my students to write a sentence with a word: sustain. 02br
00They wrote: 02br
00We are trying to sustain our food as long as possible. 02br
00I am sustaining on a chair. 02br
00I know you feel very sad, so please let me sustain you. 02br
02br
00and the word: evasive 02br
00Why are you so evasive. Are you scared of me? 02br
00First of all I am not sure whether I can count it good. Second: if not, what reason shall I give for that? 02br
00Thanks in advance, 02br

0 Hi Lila, 02br 00I think the best way is to provide them with as many examples as you can. With proper examples and correcting their sentences you can show them how to use for example, the verb "sustain". Hope that it helps.

00Did you give them a definition first? As LL says, examples are good. Perhaps before asking them to write sentences, you could give them some form of cloze exercise, just for practice. 02br
