How to end to whomever it may concern

how do you end a letter that starts to whomever it may concern? does it go into the same catagory as sir/madam (which i think ends in faithfully)?
thank you

'Yours faithfully' as specifically used for cases in which the name of the addressee is not known, is a British formality. I do not know how strictly it is now adhered to there, but in AmE it sounds very antiquated, and for most letters, common standards are 'Sincerely yours' and 'Yours truly', with their permutations. Any of these would be entirely satisfactory for a TWIMC letter.

  • Incidentally, we usually head the letter: 'To Whom it May Concern', rather than 'whomever'.

You could end it with, for example:

Regards,

Your Name

or you could just say:

Thank you,

Your Name

I have never ended a letter of resignaion or similar letter with "faithfully", for it may be taken the wrong way.

Hope this info helps you.
