Hi,

In Canada, I rarely hear that any more. I seldom even hear 'a bunch of bananas'.

I think that in some countres, English students are taught a lot of such words. I have students who are surprised that we don't commonly say eg a hand of bananas.

So if four bananas is four bunch of bananas, then how do you say just four individual bananas, not the whole bunch. And also, if I want to say four individual pieces of grapes instead of four bunch how would I say it.

Hi,

No, four bananas means four individual bananas.

A bunch of bananas means some bananas that are still connected to each other.

If I buy a bunch that consists of 4 bananas, I might say to my wife, 'I bought 4 bananas' o
