How to correctly phrase this?

Does this make sense and is this wording correct?
The food a on a deep plate is usually hotter toward the inside and colder on the outside edge. Start the outside edge and work your way in when giving your baby food.

Thank you

Food is usually on a plate but since it's a deep plate wouldn't you say "in" a deep plate?

What do you think about "outer" instead of "outside" and "middle" instead of "inside"?

Hi, and happy new year

Thinking about it, instead of 'deep plate', we would probably say dish or bowl. Although using 'outside' is natural, it's not strictly necessary. So that would give us something like:

- The food in a bowl is hotter toward the inside and colder at the edge. Start at the edge and work your way in when giving your baby food.
