How to comprehend "more than" in a sentence?

Assessment of the jugular venous pressure plays a crucial role in the bedside evaluation of volume status and, perhaps more than any other part of the examination, should be assessed daily.

How to comprehend more than, is it "more often than" or "more crucial than" or something else?

"Assessment of the jugular venous,"

Do you know this one: to go straight for the jugular?

If it should be assessed daily, then it should be assessed daily, not more often than daily.
So more often than can't be the meaning. I sense that the meaning is more importantly than.
Or, to rephrase, It is perhaps more important to assess jugular venous pressure than to assess anything else during the daily assessments.

There was a funny comic strip in the paper yesterday about someone (actually, a talking cat) who thought that the expression was "go for the juggler" - so there was a bad experience at the carnival when he attacked the guy who was juggling. (And he added that the clown might be in for some trouble too.)
