How to combine two sentences below?

Anyone please help me explain which one is correct..

a. The doctor has treated the wound and has assured his patient that she will be all right.
b. The doctor has treated the wound and assured his patient that she will be all right.

Do we still need to put the word "has" in front of the word assured for the second activity?
Thank you.
