How to cite from the web?

I have looked everywhere-no luck, can anyone here help me?
I need to know how I cite from a source from the Internet (a website). I know how to write it in the reference list, but how do I use it in the text??? (Is it just the first two words of the site, and what if the site has a different name?) (I am a non-native speaker of English writing my thesis in English, so I have no clue.)

I have cited like this for books (Smith, 1998), for example and then given the full info in my ref. list.
For my electronic sources, I have written www.govern.org/..., ect. in the list- and nothing yet in the text (I have a bunch of footnotes (with www.....) so far) that need to be organized.

I just do not know how much info I have to give in the text so that the reader can find th

Hope it helps, Ephigenie. If you are using some special publishing software like LaTex, it will automatically make the correct forms for citations, dates, footnotes etc.

By the way, don't forget to login next time to have your messages signed with your name!

Hi, I am Elaine, a CELTA trainee teacher. I know how to cite sources in a footnote, but I learnt to do this a different way, I need to know the CELTA standard. Thanks!
