They could just say "May I throw this away?" This would work for anything to be thrown away, without needing to specify what it is.

Alternately, "May I throw this paper away?" or "May I throw these shavings away?", if you want to be specific.

Don't forget that sentences start with a captial letter, and the word "I" is capitalized in English.
"May I go throw this out?" is just fine.
