How should I name some buffer/space/margin before the deadline?

Often I have to talk about some buffer/margin/space before deadline that one needs.

For example, "please speed up you work so that you have a buffer/margin/space of 2 days before the deadline".

How should I say it?

Plan to complete your work two days early so you will have some leeway to handle any contingencies. I need some leeway before the deadline to accommodate unforeseen events. Two weeks would suffice.
