How much would it cost us to replace?

1. How much would it cost us to replace? 2. How much would the tire cost us to replace?

#1 is quoted from a dictionary. There is no context.
Since "replace" is a transitive verb, it should have an object. But where is the object?
Is #2 also acceptable?
