How much tip do you leave in the usa at a restaurant?

Hello,

Can someone tell me how much tip one leaves at a restaurant?

Is it natural to ask "How much tip are we supposed to leave you"?

This really isn't an English Grammar question, but in the interest of all those starving waiters and bartenders out there (of which I was one, once, and remember fleeing from tourists knowing that they never leave a tip) I'll be happy to answer your question. First it's important to understad that the waiter or bartender is an employee that derives his income from tips. Employees are not paid a salary by the owner.
