how much can we read in elliptically

00Once in a while, when I ask questions on usage of English articles, I think someone nice come up with the answer that says something has an indefinite article, 'a' or 'an', because it is to be read elliptically.02br

00I think those are rather understandable and I do readily accept them but sometimes, I see instances where a short phrase is inserted to make situations acceptable or understandable to English learners. To me now, how much to read into the sentences is the question. Is there a reasonability factor involved here? Should I follow the recommendation like 'if it is used, then use it'? 0-
